Activities of TG3 on "Seismic Risk and Earthquake Scenarios"

The first meeting of the first joint Task Group of EAEE and ESC was held on 26-27 June, 1995 in Vienna, Austria. Out of the 14 nominated members (6 from ESC and 8 from EAEE), 8 experts (M.Dolce, V.Schenk, M.Erdik, P.Burton, A.Kappos, K.Makropoulos, H.Sandi, G.Zuccaro) and the Secretary-General of EAEE attended to the meeting. The concept of the task groups, possible future activities, and technical issues related to seismic risk, seismic hazard, vulnerability, and earthquake scenarios were discussed in details. A consensus was reached about the coordination of the future activities of the TG3, concerning possibilities of establishing a data bank, preparation of manuals and a-state-of- the-art report.

It was decided to organise two workshops one in Rome, Italy in April 1996 on the topic of vulnerability and the second one in Athens, Greece, in May 1996 on the topic of seismic hazard. It was also agreed to take part in the Specialty Session on Earthquake Scenarios to be held in 11th WCEE during July 1996 that will be chaired by Prof.M.Erdik. The group decided to have its second meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland during the XXVth General Assembly of ESC in September 1996.

The afternoon of the second day, Tuesday, June 27, 1995 was devoted to the open seminar organised by EAEE in the Technical University of Vienna, on the topic of Seismic Risk and Earthquake Scenarios according to the program given below.
